Biography

Elvis Jerome is a musician and scholar from Listuguj, Quebec. He has over twenty years of performance experience across multiple instruments, including electric guitar, classical guitar, bass guitar, piano, violin, viola, ukulele, and mandolin. In 2004, he received the title of Listuguj Idol. His first public performance was in March 2006 at the Alaqsite'w Gitpu School.

 

From September 2007 to March 2011, he studied guitar at Bert's Music School in Campbellton, New Brunswick. During this period, he received certificates of recognition for perseverance and achievement in June 2008, June 2009, and July 2010. He later completed a Master Certificate in Guitar at Berklee College of Music, from September 2010 to December 2015, with a GPA of 3.75/4.0. From September 2015 to April 2016, he studied e-Theory at the Institute for Music Leadership at the Eastman School of Music / University of Rochester.

 

Between September 2016 and April 2018, Elvis was a music student at Mount Allison University. During this time, he served as a bass singer in the university’s choral society and participated in a classical guitar masterclass at the University of Moncton on December 3, 2016. In this event, he performed with a guitar ensemble and presented a short classical guitar concert.

 

Elvis maintains a YouTube channel featuring over 1,000 videos of solo and band performances. His recordings include performances on electric guitar, classical guitar, bass guitar, and various other instruments.

 

 In addition to his academic and performance activities, Elvis volunteered as a music theory tutor for the Journal of Music Theory Pedagogy’s online peer tutoring program via Skype from January to May 2018. His research focuses on the musical contributions of Randy Rhoads in collaboration with Ozzy Osbourne. It includes a comprehensive music-theoretical analysis of Rhoads’ work with Ozzy on two albums, an examination of the historical context of Osbourne’s compositions featuring Rhoads, and an exploration of the musical works Rhoads was actively composing and studying from late 1981 until March 19, 1982. Additionally, the study investigates Rhoads’ posthumous goals.
